O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission is comprised of three standing committees—Residential Sound Insulation Program, School Sound Insulation Program and Technical Committee. Representatives from municipalities, Cook County and school districts located near O’Hare International Airport serve on these committees.
Residential Sound Insulation Program
The ONCC Residential Sound Insulation Committee works in cooperation with
the City of Chicago, local governments and O'Hare area residents to reduce the effect of aircraft noise
in single-family, owner-occupied homes. The Committee oversees the O'Hare
Residential Sound Insulation Program, which is the most aggressive program
of its kind in the nation.

School Sound Insulation Program
The ONCC School Sound Insulation Committee works in cooperation with
the City of Chicago and O'Hare area private and public schools to reduce the effect of aircraft noise
in classrooms. The committee oversees the O'Hare
School Sound Insulation Program, which is the largest in world.

Technical
The ONCC Technical
Committee works in cooperation with those
entities most able to reduce the effect of aircraft noise at its
source, such as the Chicago Department of Aviation, air traffic controllers,
Federal Aviation Administration representatives, airline pilots and
community leaders.
