Noise Monitors

Thirty-three permanent noise monitors and one long-term portable monitor register noise generated over communities surrounding O’Hare by aircraft operating at the airport.

This extensive noise data, along with information from FAA radar data, weather data and citizen noise complaints, has been compiled in the monthly Airport Noise Management System prepared by the Chicago Department of Aviation for the O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission since 1997.
