Noise and Emissions Reduction
PARTNER--the Partnership for AiR Transportation Noise and Emissions Reduction—is a leading aviation cooperative research organization.
As an FAA Center of Excellence, PARTNER, was established in September 2003 to foster breakthrough technical, operational, and workforce capabilities enabling quieter and cleaner aircraft. The organization’s operational headquarters is located at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and Transport Canada co-sponsor this partnership, that seeks to enhance the understanding of aerospace environmental issues.
ONCC, a member of the PARTNER Advisory Committee, is tracking key PARTNER research projects including:
Project 19—Health Effects of Airport Noise/Final Report
Project 24—Noise Exposure Response: Annoyance
Project 25—Noise Exposure Response: Sleep Disturbance
Project 4—Continuous Descent Arrival
ONCC anticipates that this additional research will result in changes in operations and federal sound insulation standards.
