School District 80 Superintendent, Dr. Susan Knight
Vice-Chair, School Sound Insulation Committee

Dr. Susan Knight just completed her third year as the Superintendent at Norridge School District 80.  In 2001, Dr. Knight began her first year in Norridge just as the James Giles School was completing their sound insulation project. The John V. Leigh building had been sound insulated in the late 1990s.

In 1975, Dr. Knight began her teaching career at the high school level in the Chicago suburbs, but realized very quickly that there was much more to learn and she returned to graduate school, part-time, as she continued her career in education.  In 1994 she graduated from the University of Illinois with her doctorate in education. Prior to moving to Norridge, the “Island in the City,” Dr. Knight was a superintendent, a middle school principal, a high school assistant principal, a guidance counselor and a teacher in Central and West Central Illinois.

Dr. Knight has been a loyal member of the O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission since her arrival to the Chicago area.  Soon after her arrival, Dr. Knight learned of the extent to which Mayor Daley, the FAA and the City of Chicago has been committed to improving the living and learning environments for the people of Chicago and the Chicago Suburbs. She is grateful for all that has been accomplished in District 80 and the Norridge community and is pleased to serve as the Vice-Chair for the School Sound Insulation Committee.
